June Elevated Tasting At The Tasting Room

This month in The Tasting Room, our elevated flight will feature a vertical tasting of Four Flags Cabernet Sauvignon (‘14,’17, ‘18, ‘20, ‘21). Guests will be led through the tasting from the oldest vintage to the most recent, experiencing the subtle nuances of grapes from each Vineyard site and the impact of the aging of a well-structured Cabernet Sauvignon. The cataclysmic Missoula floods greatly impacted the Red Mountain AVA, leading to greater soil diversification in the area than you would see in most of the Columbia Valley. Sourced from our four longest-standing vineyard partners, each site offers unique growing conditions and Cabernet Sauvignon clones.

For each vintage, the individual blocks from each site are brought into the winery to be fermented separately and placed into barrels to age. When it comes time to determine a blend for that vintage, all of the blocks and clones from each vineyard are on the table. Over the course of a week, the winemaking team tastes each barrel, seeking out the best combination of clones and vineyard sites. Once the blend is determined, individual barrels from those lots are tasted, and only the best ones are included in the final blend of Four Flags.
