2007 Harrison Hill Red Blend
Snipes Mountain AVA
This year’s Harrison Hill is a bigger and darker version while retaining the classic Harrison Hill characters of old-vine Cabernet Sauvignon and its unique terroir. The nose features a bewitching combination of bing cherries, plums, lead pencil, violets, and wild herbs. On the palate, this wine surprised us with its density and power yet retained the elegance and long, silky finish that are so characteristic of Harrison Hill. Definitely one for the cellar; or put a young bottle in the decanter for an hour before enjoying.

A sensational wine that comes close to the profound 1999 is the 2007 Harrison Hill, which is a classic blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc and a splash of Petit Verdot, raised all in new oak. About as supple, sexy, gorgeously layered and expansive as they come, this beauty hits the palate with full-bodied depth and richness, yet never seems heavy, cumbersome or over the top in any way. Loaded with notions of leafy herbs, black currants, ripe black cherries, saddle leather and spice, this impeccably balanced beauty is already hard to resist, yet will evolve on its balance and overall harmony for another 10-15 years.

Behind the Wine
2007 Harrison Hill Red Blend
A Bordeaux-style blend from a small, historic vineyard on Snipes Mountain, this wine is labelled after the vineyard’s namesake – Harrison Hill. Over the past five decades, the state’s second oldest Cabernet vines have matured gracefully while producing progressively limited yields. This slow, elegant maturation is a compelling expression of what it means to be a terroir-driven wine.
Vineyards
Harrison Hill, a five-acre site in the Snipes Mountain AVA, still boasts a 1962 Cabernet Sauvignon planting by William Bridgman, a pioneer of planting European wine grapes in Washington State. These vines are the second oldest in the state, and the oldest used in commercial wine production.
Winemaking
Cold soaked 24-36 hours, fermented 14-16 days on skin, aged 20 months in 100% French oak (100% new) and aged in bottle 8 months prior to release.
