2014 Harrison Hill Red Blend
Snipes Mountain AVA
This wine possesses a notable ruby brick color. There are focused black currant aromas, along with scents of Herbs de Provence, smoked nettles, and a touch of leather. The flavors are energetic and pure, revealing black cherry, cassis, and tapenade, with whispers of blackberries and plums. The oak is beautifully integrated, creating a seamless and elegant wine that has great length and longevity.

Coming from old Cabernet Sauvignon vines planted on Snipes Mountain, the 2014 Harrison Hill is a thrilling expression of Cabernet from Washington State. Possessing a singular bouquet of tobacco leaf, cedar, cherry, currants, and spice, this medium to full-bodied beauty is seamless, impeccably balanced, and has a great finish. It’s one of those wines that grows on you with time in the glass, and while I thought it would need cellaring when I tasted it from the barrel, it’s already drinking beautifully. Nevertheless, it should be at its finest from 2022-2040.

Behind the Wine
2014 Harrison Hill Red Blend
A Bordeaux-style blend from a small, historic vineyard on Snipes Mountain, this wine is labelled after the vineyard’s namesake – Harrison Hill. Over the past five decades, the state’s second oldest Cabernet vines have matured gracefully while producing progressively limited yields. This slow, elegant maturation is a compelling expression of what it means to be a terroir-driven wine.
Vineyards
Harrison Hill, a five-acre site in the Snipes Mountain AVA, still boasts a 1962 Cabernet Sauvignon planting by William Bridgman, a pioneer of planting European wine grapes in Washington State. These vines are the second oldest in the state, and the oldest used in commercial wine production.
Winemaking
Cold soaked 24-36 hours, fermented 14-16 days on skin, aged 20 months in 100% French oak (100% new) and aged in bottle 8 months prior to release.
