2021 Marguerite
White Bluffs AVA
The 18 months in élevage and extended time in the bottle prior to release has created a complex 100% Sauvignon Blanc, with an intensity not easily attained by this aromatic varietal. The 2021 Marguerite is delectably rich, layered with intoxicating aromas of mango, apricot and guava. The texture is quite creamy with surprising secondary notes of brioche and vanilla, both results of barrel influence and extended lees contact. These characteristics are balanced by bright notes of lemon curd and oyster shell with a lovely hint of white flowers on the finish. Enjoy now or cellar for 10-15 years.

A truly outstanding Washington Sauvignon Blanc, the ‘Marguerite’ is named after the Marguerite daisy which is a symbol of patience. Stored in 75% new French oak, this wine was sourced from some of the oldest Sauvignon Blanc in the state. This is very rich and refined with a seamless texture. Bright cantaloupe and kiwi flavors combine with beautiful weight and fantastic tension. Finishing long with smoky and stony tones, this is a delicious, complex wine that is built to age. Behind the Wine
2021 Marguerite
The Marguerite daisy, a flower symbolizing devotion and patience, lends its name to this cuvée. DeLille Cellars has crafted Sauvignon Blanc for over a quarter century, traditionally aging the wines for six months in barrel. For Marguerite, the very best wines are selected to remain in barrel for an additional year. Loyally tended in barrel, this, our best Sauvignon Blanc, is bottled separately, then rested in bottle another year before release.
Vineyards
Sagemoor Bacchus, one of Washington’s premier vineyards, is home to a 1972 planting of Sauvignon Blanc. These old vines are key to DeLille’s Chaleur Blanc program, and are the sole planting used in Marguerite.
Winemaking
Whole cluster pressed, 100% barrel fermented in 90% French oak (60% new), and aged 7 months on lees. The best lots are kept in barrel an additional year for Marguerite. The wine is bottled-aged for an additional year prior to release.
