The 2022 Grand Ciel Syrah shows an appealing combination of meaty, wild game notes, with hints of red plum and Bing Cherry that bring out the best in each other. The pallet has a dollop of stony minerality and a velvety mid-pallet, which leads to a slightly spicy, sanguine crowned finish. There are notes of lavender, dark espresso, and burnt orange peel that mingle and show the range and complexity of this timeless effort. A memorable wine that will cellar 15+ years.

The 2022 Grand Ciel Syra is darkly alluring. Nuances of sweet sage, black olives and stone dust give way to musky black currants. Distinctly savory and intense, it presents an early onset of fine tannins that add a pleasant grip as masses of ripe black fruit and mineral tones saturate the palate. It finishes long and staining, structured yet fresh, with a pleasantly bitter tinge that lingers.

2022 Grand Ciel Syrah
Grand Ciel Syrah is a single vineyard, single varietal & single clone Syrah from our estate vineyard on Red Mountain. Every detail of our vineyard has been designed to produce the highest quality fruit from the unique climate & soil of this prestigious AVA known for ripe & structured fruit. Our rigorous selection process only permits a small portion of grapes to become part of Grand Ciel.
Winemaking
Single Clone Syrah (383) from DeLille Cellars' Estate Vineyard on Red Mountain. Stainless steel fermented, 14-16 days on skins, 7% whole cluster. Barrel aged 20 months in French oak (38% new). Bottle aged 10 months prior to release.
