The 2023 vintage of our beloved D2 opens with such easy appeal, as fresh raspberry, Bing cherry, cinnamon stick, cranberry and lavender flowers dance from the glass in a whimsical initial bouquet. The first sip leads way to a seriously dense and lively palate, with hints of espresso bean, cherry liquor, sweet pipe tobacco and vanilla bean. The tannins are broadly dispersed and beautifully polished; the red and dark fruits, toasty oak and subtle spice well-balanced and enhanced by streaks of truffle and dried herbs. Enjoy this classic rendition of D2 now or cellar for 15+ years.

The 2023 DeLille Cellars D2 Red Wine from the Columbia Valley is anchored by 64% Merlot and 26% Cabernet Sauvignon, with smaller portions of Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc completing the blend. In the glass, it shows a deep garnet center that fades to a bright crimson edge. The wine is polished and supple, unfolding with layers of black plum, fig, and roasted cocoa, underscored by hints of cedar and graphite. Its velvety texture and finely knit tannins create a graceful structure that makes for an elegant and harmonious sip. Pair it with braised short ribs served over creamy polenta.

Winemaking
Cold soaked 24-36 hours, fermented for 12-14 days on skin and aged 20 months in 100% French oak (49% new). Bottle aged 6-7 months prior to release.
