The 2023 vintage of our beloved D2 opens with such easy appeal, as fresh raspberry, Bing cherry, cinnamon stick, cranberry and lavender flowers dance from the glass in a whimsical initial bouquet. The first sip leads way to a seriously dense and lively palate, with hints of espresso bean, cherry liquor, sweet pipe tobacco and vanilla bean. The tannins are broadly dispersed and beautifully polished; the red and dark fruits, toasty oak and subtle spice well-balanced and enhanced by streaks of truffle and dried herbs. Enjoy this classic rendition of D2 now or cellar for 15+ years.

Blending 64% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% each of Petit Verdot and Malbec, and 2% Cabernet Franc, the 2023 D2 is richly layered in sweet red fruit, with supple tannins in full support. Cohesive, medium-bodied, and given 20 months in all French oak, 49% new, it has density and elegance with outstanding length. It offers great value for the quality. Hold and drink 2028-2038.

Winemaking
Cold soaked 24-36 hours, fermented for 12-14 days on skin and aged 20 months in 100% French oak (49% new). Bottle aged 6-7 months prior to release.
