Our 2023 Grand Ciel Syrah has a tightly wound core of dark fruits with a prominent throughline of gravelly minerality. Notes of wild blackberry and plum are loosely framed by raspberry and huckleberry. A medley of lavender, hibiscus, and violet accents the bright fruit and whisper of toasty oak. The palate begins lightly, but quickly builds into a refined, juicy texture with peppery tannins that drive a seamless finish. This wine is a pure, fresh expression of our estate Syrah and will cellar beautifully for 12+ years.

Jet black in the glass, the 2023 ‘Grand Ciel’ Syrah was sourced from this site on Red Mountain. Scorched earth, dried sage and shades of red licorice all combine with beautiful black rose petals on the nose. The palate is open and rich with terrific richness and great underlying freshness. Glorious now, savor this beauty over the next ten plus years. Drink 2026-2038

2023 Grand Ciel Syrah
Grand Ciel Syrah is a single vineyard, single varietal & single clone Syrah from our estate vineyard on Red Mountain. Every detail of our vineyard has been designed to produce the highest quality fruit from the unique climate & soil of this prestigious AVA known for ripe & structured fruit. Our rigorous selection process only permits a small portion of grapes to become part of Grand Ciel.
Winemaking
Stainless steel fermented, 14-16 days on skins, ~15% whole cluster. Barrel aged 18 months in French oak (42% new). Bottle aged 15 months prior to release.
