2023 Red Willow Malbec

Yakima Valley AVA

The 2023 Red Willow Malbec is a great representation of the concentration of the vintage and the class this iconic vineyard possesses. On the nose, notes of blueberry compote, wild blackberry, fresh coffee, and scorched earth waft from the glass. There is more power to this wine than usual, with a mouth-filling structure that finishes fine and is braced with bright acid. The plush palate is filled with flavors of red licorice, whole Tellicherry peppercorns, milk chocolate, and a hint of pie dough. Pair with your favorite grilled meats or cellar 10+ years to see what lies ahead for this charmer.

Behind the Wine

2023 Red Willow Malbec

Our single-vineyard Malbec is crafted with fruit from one of our original and oldest partners, Red Willow Vineyard. Malbec, one of the five original Bordeaux-style blending varietals, famously thrives in many climates, showcasing characteristics unique to the place it is planted. The Malbec grapes grown on the Red Willow hillsides offer notes of leafy black fruits, blueberries and plum unique to the site, paired with plush, ripe tannins characteristic of Washington Malbec.
