2023 Reserve Syrah
Yakima Valley AVA
Our 2023 Reserve Syrah has an inky, savory core lifted by hints of black plum, violets and pomegranate seed. There is a distinct gamey quality marked by notes of sanguine and charred meats. Coriander seed and black peppercorn lead the herbaceous charge with rustic, fine grained tannins creating a firm and smooth mouthfeel. This wine has a racy, old school feel, a result of the guidance of dried fruits, minerality and constraint. Drink now with a lengthy decant to bring out the pretty underlying features or cellar for 10+ years.

All varietal and juicy in dense layers of black fruit, the 2023 Syrah Grand Ciel Vineyard is made in a light to medium-bodied style with well-integrated oak and tannin. Herbes de Provence, white and black pepper, and sage ride along the velvety palate of seamless elegance, ready to age another 12-15 years.

Behind the Wine
2023 Reserve Syrah
Nowhere on earth does the venerable Syrah grapevine feel more at home than in the arid and sun-drenched Yakima Valley of Washington State. Both the sandy loam soils and cool nights contribute to crafting a wine with incredible generosity of flavors and spices, qualities that elevate Syrah into an unparalleled category. We choose to co-ferment Syrah (98%) with Viognier (2%), adding another dimension of citrus and floral spices to the bouquet. Given the full character of this wine, the French oak barrels take a modest role in the background of our Signature Syrah.
Vineyards
Our Signature Syrah is sourced from some of Yakima Valley’s most acclaimed vineyards such as our estate Grand Ciel vineyard, Ciel du Cheval, Boushey.
Winemaking
Stainless steel fermented, 14-16 days on skins, ~9% whole cluster, 3% Viognier. Barrel aged 20 months in French oak (12% new). Bottle aged 8 months prior to release.
