Our Top 5 Scored Wines

We’ve shared each wines top score, plus a look into what other reviewers thought about the wine. We’ve named the reviewers in shorthand in the descriptions below. Here is your key to who scored what:

D – Decanter | IWW – International Wine Report | JD – Jed Dunnuck | JS – James Suckling | OB – Owen Bargeen | V – Vinous | WE – Wine Enthusiast | WS – Wine Spectator

97 Points: 2022 Chaleur Estate

Our founding wine continues to wow reviewers

The aromatics show a red-fruited intensity, with rampant floral notes, desert sage and a lavish mineral lift. The palate suggests a savory framing but an intense opulence to the ripe blue and black fruits. Carry through with such refined tannin and a wonderfully long finish that offers a hint of red berry at the finish. The polish is dazzling. Clive Pursehouse, Decanter

In addition to the Decanter score, this vintage of Chaleur Estate received high acclaim from many publications, including a 95 point score (JD) and four 94 point scores (JS, V, WE, WS).

96 Points: 2022 Grand Ciel Cabernet Sauvignon

Capturing the Essence of its Growing site

This Cabernet is finely structured, capturing the essence of its site. Aromas of marionberries, crushed violets, espresso bean, and cassis rise from the glass, followed by layers of blackberry liqueur, licorice root, charred stone and that amazing Red Mountain sagebrush that weave seamlessly across the palate. Jeremy Young, International Wine Report

This single-vineyard wine also received another 96 (OB), two 95s (JS, V), and two 94 point scores (WE, WS) in 2025.

96 Points: 2022 Four Flags

blended to be greater than the sum of its parts

Graceful floral notes, dried desert scrub, and eucalyptus push elegance to the fore of this wine’s aromatic profile. The palate is complex, with ripe red and black currants expressing refinement and class. It is well framed by dried mint, lavender, and a mineral note of crushed granite. — Clive Pursehouse, Decanter

Other scores for the vintage include one 95 (OB), four 94s (JD, V, WE, IWW), and two 93s (JS, WS).

95 Points: 2022 Shaw Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Bursting from the glass: Bold & Dark

The 2022 Shaw Cabernet Sauvignon bursts from the glass with masses of dark fruit. It is velvety and nearly creamy in feel, with ripe black fruit underscored by crisp mineral tones as a sweet herbal air adds lift toward the close. It finishes with dramatic length and concentration, expertly balanced.  — Eric Guido, Vinous

Other scores earned by the 2022 vintage include two 94s (D, JD) and three 93s (JS, WE, WS).

94 Points: 2022 Shaw Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

The 30th Vintage is as great as ever

Happy 30th anniversary, Chaleur Blanc. You are better than ever. This blend of 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Semillon is tart in all the right places. The wine feels downright creamy as it coats the palate with flavors of guava, honey, mint, wet slate and a trace of coconut. The wine’s acidity is somewhere between bright and puckering. — Michael Alberty, Wine Enthusiast

Plus, the 2024 Chaleur Blanc received 94 points and was named #38 on Owen Bargreen’s Top 100 Wines of 2025. Jed Dunnuck echoed a third 94, and the 2024 vintage also received two 93 points (V, WS).
