2015 Métier 3L

This vintage exhibits brambleberry and sweet smoke on the nose, with raspberries, strawberries, and an undercurrent of wild herbs. Minerals and licorice accompany charcuterie, dried blueberry and fresh fig flavors. Well-balanced acidity and polished tannins add to all the fruit components.  Its very persistent fruit finish is tempting now, but its structure will also reward some additional time in the bottle.

“Bright, dark red. Brambly red berries, crushed cherry, spices and hints of smoked meat and herbs on the nose. Plush, sappy and utterly seamless, conveying a creaminess of texture to the flavors of dried red berries, cherry and tree bark firmed by underlying minerality. Really terrific flavor intensity here without any heaviness or phenolic roughness. The pH is “3.8 at the most,” according to winemaker Chris Upchurch, and the very long finish is lifted by a pungent note of pomegranate.”

Pairing Suggestion

Spanish Paella — Roasted, spice-driven vegetable dishes like Spanish Paella, Morrocan Chicken or Smoked Cauliflower Steaks are fantastic pairing options. We recommend avoiding seafoods, however Tuna and even Salmon with rich sauces can pair nicely.

Behind the Wine

2015 Métier 3L

Nowhere is crafting a wine of intention more evident than in Métier (craft, trade, forte), a wine mirrored after traditional Southern Rhone-style blends. This wine combines old-world characteristics with the focus and ripe terroir of the Columbia Valley. In the true spirit of its namesake, the goal in crafting Le Dessein is for the expression of each varietal to be elevated within the blend. First vintage 2005, (now known as Le Dessein).
