2016 Grand Ciel Syrah

Syrah

Initially vibrant, rich and fruit forward in the glass, the 2016 Grand Ciel Syrah gradually unveils smoke, grilled meat and lavender blossom, with a hint of tangerine pith. This incredibly savory and inviting nose is supported on the palate with generous blackberry and tapenade flavors, demonstrating marvelous balance throughout. Building in intensity with subsequent tastes, this wine nevertheless retains its tension and should age beautifully.

“The flagship Syrah is the 2016 Syrah Grand Ciel Vineyard, which comes a1l from clone 383 and was brought up in 25-30% new French oak. It’s a smoky, meaty, gamey Syrah that has tons to love. Blackberries, ground pepper, and olive notes all flow to a medium to full-bodied, concentrated yet seamless Syrah that has beautifully integrated tannins, acidity, and fruit. It’s great today and is going to evolve for at least a decade.”

Pairing Suggestion

Grand Ciel Syrah pairs very well with grilled meats, vegetables, wild game and stews, and chilis. Marbled cuts of beef stand up to Syrah – we recommend pairing with Grilled New York or Ribeye Steak.
