Celebrating the 30th Vintage

The 2021 D2 shows the promise of the vintage, with deep concentration and outstanding quality. Initial aromas of blackberry, cassis and green peppercorn lead to a palate bursting with beautiful richness and texture. The high-quality, fine-grained tannins of this wine allow approachability in its youth, yet have the firmness and backbone to provide aging for 15+ years. Red currant, Bing Cherry and toasty oak flavors develop with time, leading to a lengthy finish with impressive weight. Cheers to 30 vintages of D2 and many more on the way.

“This merlot-dominant blend is balanced with cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and petit verdot. It’s all dark violets, the floral scents over more reticent and reserved notes of blackberry and dried beef. Butternut Squash Risotto with Black Truffles

This is a very cool dish because it is vegetarian, yet the cheese and truffles bump it up to a red wine pairing. It is perfect with the DeLille Cellars Merlot-dominant D2. For the carnivorous, add a short rib on top. Vegetarian or not, everyone is happy. Do not fear the truffle. As with many things, they are available on the internet for most of year.
