Our 2021 Grand Ciel Syrah has an enticing array of aromas: smoked meats, black pepper, pluot, and marionberry waft from the glass. This single-clone Syrah has a core of dark fruits, with notes of sanguine and toasted cumin seed. Highlights of raspberry and violets provide lift and freshness and beautifully frame the denser, darker flavors. Poised tannins gently support the juicy mid-palate and lead the way to a dreamy finish that elevates this wine to another level. Enjoy now or confidently cellar for 12+ years.

This wine is made from clone 3 Syrah vines planted in 2000 at DeLille's Grand Ciel estate site, an 8ha site on Red Mountain. It shows the pedigree of the appellation, Washington's hottest, but even in this hot vintage, you find an undeniable balance and elegance. It's richly aromatic, with tart Montmorency cherries, rich tones of earth berries, and spicy clove. The finish lasts forever with redolent fruits, spice, chicory root, and rooibos.

2021 Grand Ciel Syrah
Grand Ciel Syrah is a single vineyard, single varietal & single clone Syrah from our estate vineyard on Red Mountain. Every detail of our vineyard has been designed to produce the highest quality fruit from the unique climate & soil of this prestigious AVA known for ripe & structured fruit. Our rigorous selection process only permits a small portion of grapes to become part of Grand Ciel.
Winemaking
Single Clone Syrah (383) from DeLille Cellars' Estate Vineyard on Red Mountain. Stainless steel fermented, 14-16 days on skins, 7% whole cluster. Barrel aged 20 months in French oak (38% new). Bottle aged 10 months prior to release.
