2019 Grand Ciel Syrah

The 2019 Grand Ciel Syrah opens with aromas of grilled meat, violets, and dried Herbs de Provence.  Dark plum and blackberry mingle beautifully with the savory components of this wine.  A small amount of stem inclusion provides lift and texture, while the subtle oak influence supports the rich mouthfeel.  The decision to bottle the wine without any fining is validated by graceful tannins that lead to a generous finish.  You can expect to cellar this for at least 12+ years, but this classic delivers much pleasure on its release as well.

“Big, bold and broad-shouldered, the 2019 Syrah Grand Ciel offers a firm, fresh nose with a rocky and dusty blackberry essence and subtle notes of graphite and baking spices. Full-bodied, firm and focused, the palate reveals fine-grained tannins and a long, spicy textural finish. It’s still tight and just a baby, so give it another two to three years in the cellar before opening. Your patience will be rewarded. Enjoy with food. Grand Ciel Syrah pairs very well with grilled meats, vegetables, wild game and stews, and chilis. Marbled cuts of beef stand up to Syrah – we recommend pairing with Grilled New York or Ribeye Steak.

Grand Ciel Syrah is a single vineyard, single varietal & single clone Syrah from our estate vineyard on Red Mountain. Every detail of our vineyard has been designed to produce the highest quality fruit from the unique climate & soil of this prestigious AVA known for ripe & structured fruit. Our rigorous selection process only permits a small portion of grapes to become part of Grand Ciel.
