The inaugural vintage of Red Willow Chardonnay is both vibrant and complex, showcasing the best qualities of the grape, alongside pleasant notes from full malolactic fermentation. The tasting experience opens with lively citrus aromas of Meyer lemon and tart blood orange complemented by tropical mango notes and herbaceous salinity. On the palate, the aromas linger, compliments by flavors of Asian pear and wet stone, The mouthfeel is bright yet creamy with vibrant acidity that lingers on the palate. This wine is exquisite now, but because of its elegant balance, it will develop beautifully with some time in the bottle.

Red Willow Vineyard is the furthest western vineyard in the Yakima Valley AVA. At this site, grapes are grown on steep hillsides, which maximizes sun exposure and creates the perfect environment for ripening Syrah grapes. The 2021 vintage opens with pronounced aromas of black plum, roasted coffee beans and a hint of lavender. On the palate, the wine is audaciously meaty and full of concentrated dark fruits, offering flavors of blackberry compote, juniper berry and fresh violets. This wine is layered with notes of savory and dark fruits and provides subtle nuances with each sip. Enjoy now, or cellars for 15+ years.

2021 is the first vintage of our Red Willow Blend that is dominated by the dynamic Cabernet Franc (76%) grape, from two blocks planted in 1995 and 1989. The Cab Franc offers lovely aromas of tobacco leaf, green peppercorn, crème de cassis and black cherry notes. The Merlot (24%), from a 1985 planting at the site, rounds the palate out and helps create a seamless transition from the entry to the long, graceful finish. Pomegranate, milk chocolate, and herbs de Provence are noted on the palate, with a subtle spiciness that brings a delightful sense of freshness. This wine is a stunner on release and will surely cellar for 12+ years.
