Ciel du Cheval

2022 Roussanne

Presenting the attributes of cooler harvest conditions, our 2022 Roussanne displays a profile of dried apricot, tangerine and green apple on the nose. The quintessential lemon grass and fresh lime flavors of this wine are easily picked out, while notes of wet stone, sweet hay and white flowers are more pronounced than usual.  A lovely salinity in the mid-palate leads to a long, smooth finish.  Enjoyable now but it would be encouraged to cellar for several years to experience this wine at its best.

“For years DeLille Cellars has been making some of the finest Roussanne that you will find in the state. This 2022 edition is entirely sourced from the Ciel du Cheval Vineyard on Red Mountain. Stored in a combination of natural oak, concrete and stainless steel this shows amazing flavor range with serious texture and verve. This is silky and very easy to drink with citrus blossom, kiwi, cantaloupe and brie cheese notes. Drink now and over the next eight years. Drink 2023-2031” – Owen Bargreen

Behind the Wine

2022 Roussanne

Roussanne is one of the few noble white grapes that can retain natural acidity & crisp structure nurtured under our beloved Red Mountain sun. As a single vineyard wine from the famed Ciel du Cheval vineyard in the Red Mountain AVA, the distinctive mineral complexity is the foundation of every vintage.
