DeLille Cellars is excited to share the results from the 2023 PACK Design Awards hosted by WineBusiness Monthly. DeLille’s new brand, Métier, received multiple awards for its lineup, which includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, and a Red Blend. The brand received the following accolades:
“[Métier] had the perfect balance of fun and serious, educational and accessible in its design, and worked well as both a series of wines and standalone bottle, earning Best in Show,” wrote Erin Kischenmann, Managing Editor for Wine Business Monthly.
Métier, meaning craft, trade or forte, honors the hands that work in the vineyards and cellar, striving to capture the essence of the remarkable Columbia Valley in every bottle. The wine pays homage to the dedication, expertise, effort, and artistry that goes into the winemaking process, from vineyard to glass.
Wine grapes thrive in Washington State’s Columbia Valley, which receives up to 17 hours of daylight in the summer. The extreme fluctuation in daytime and nighttime temperatures (known as diurnal shift) allows grapes to develop complex and balanced flavors.
“While honoring the diurnal shift that provides ideal conditions in the Columbia Valley, the Métier series also pays homage to the people who tend to the vineyard and cellar in these beautiful designs by Seattle artist Becca Fuhrman,” Kischenmann added.
Each label in the Métier series pays homage to the artistry and craft of winemaking and the hands that shape Métier.
Métier, the embodiment of craft, trade and forte, celebrates the hands that tirelessly tend to the vineyards. The original artwork was hand-crafted by local Seattle artist Becca Furhman in a traditional linocut method. Similar to creating a woodblock print, linocut is a method in which the artist uses a reductive process to generate their design and final product in linoleum.
Each Métier label showcases the intricate connection and balance between nature and winemaking.
Métier Cabernet Sauvignon is an inviting, smooth wine with black cherry and plum aromas pouring from the glass. Flavors of bold dark fruits and charming notes of baking spice combine with a juicy midpalate and pleasantly firm, dry finish. Best paired in the company of family and friends, Métier offers a balance of structure and approachability that can accompany a wide variety of foods.
Crafted to embrace the heart of Washington State’s most planted varietal, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon label showcases two hands holding the sun and moon, capturing the significance of the diurnal shift that shapes our craft.
Métier Cabernet Sauvignon received 91 points from Wine & Spirits and 90 points from Wine Enthusiast. “A terrific value that would probably run you three times the price if it was from Napa, the 2021 Métier Cabernet Sauvignon has textbook leafy herbs, tobacco, and darker currant fruits in a medium-bodied, elegant, balanced package. It has classic Cabernet herbal, floral, spicy notes and is well worth drinking any time over the coming decade or so.” – 91 points, Jeb Dunnuck.
