The 2023 vintage of our beloved D2 opens with such easy appeal, as fresh raspberry, Bing cherry, cinnamon stick, cranberry and lavender flowers dance from the glass in a whimsical initial bouquet. The first sip leads way to a seriously dense and lively palate, with hints of espresso bean, cherry liquor, sweet pipe tobacco and vanilla bean. The tannins are broadly dispersed and beautifully polished; the red and dark fruits, toasty oak and subtle spice well-balanced and enhanced by streaks of truffle and dried herbs. 2023 Doyenne Red Blend

The 2023 Doyenne blend offers distinct typicity from the three varietals it contains: meatiness from the Syrah (50%), black cherry and graphite from the Cabernet Sauvignon (39%), and floral brambly notes from the Mourvedre (11%). Both the nose and palate are lively with cracked black pepper, boysenberry and red plum notes. The mouth feel is creamy and laced with juicy acid and sturdy tannins that all work in concert with the subtle barrel spice.
